Planting and Caring for Spring Crocus

In most of the regions, after the arrival of spring, there would be a beautiful appearance of crocus flowers. You sill observe them peeking up through the snow well before any other flower bloom. They are found as the low growing clump-forming plants usually grown from the corms. They will be found in different colors like white, mauve, lavender, yellow and striped. They are one of the first bulbs brought to the new world. Spring Blooming crocuses are hybrids of crocus vernus having large single flowers which booms a couple of weeks earlier and has a smaller but more profuse bloom.  

They are slightly dependent on the type you are growing and exposure and survive best where winters are cold. They mostly need twelve to fifteen weeks to bloom. They look best when they are natural and make a wonderful sight in the early spring. They also do well in the alpine and rock garden by looking very beautiful. You have to plant them in a protected spot to extend their blooming period. Plant them and hide their foliage will give the crocus a chance for storing energy because their flowers fade quickly in the heat.
